On a blazing hot summer day I found myself walking along Wisconsin Avenue in the Tenleytown neighborhood of DC. Although there were trees along the sidewalk, they didn’t seem to provide quite enough shading. As the summers become hotter due to climate change, planting more trees can help cool down the pavement as well as capture carbon from the atamosphere and store it in the soil— a double win.
